EREPHOS comes from the Greek words erevos (darkness) and phos (light). This painting explores how those two forces can exist together. The wave is not just part of the sea but it becomes the source of light, glowing and rising out of the darkness. It holds movement, energy, and presence, as if it’s alive. I wanted to express that even in the deepest and quietest places, something powerful can emerge and bring light.

The process of creating EREPHOS was slow and layered, both technically and emotionally. It took me several months to complete, building it gradually with many glazes of oil paint. Over time, the surface developed a sculptural texture that gives the piece a physical presence, as if the wave is not only painted, but shaped. My hope is that the viewer feels both the intensity and the calm, and finds their own meaning in that glowing wave.
