Aether. The ancient Greek word for the intangible, the elusive, the dreamlike, the pure. The title feels entirely fitting for this piece, as this was my exact inspiration: that unique moment where air and water, sea and sky, lose their distinct forms and become one. And all together, they dissolve into nothing.

Like most of my creations, this is yet another work defined by contrasts and ambiguity. The tension between light and shadow, freedom and constraint, the familiar and the unknown is once again captured on my canvas, offering the hope of a different interpretation by each viewer according to their own perception and mood.

With Aether, I fought with myself to keep the raw energy of the moment alive. I trusted the viewer, the one who truly feels, to fill in the details of the story through an ongoing dialogue.

Abstraction? Impressionism? Expressionism? Realism? And how much does it really matter? Emotion cannot be categorized.

The work is created on meticulously selected fine linen canvas, prepared by myself using natural materials according to the techniques of the 17th century masters. The luminosity it possesses is the direct result of this technique and these materials, not the application of varnish. The painting never stops breathing.
