My seascape painting "Beauty and the Beast" is about contrast and contradiction. In the distance, towards the horizon, the sea looks calm and bright, with summer sparkles playing on the surface. Closer to the viewer, though, the waves become dark, heavy, and unnaturally violent. The peaceful beauty of summer right next to the wild and unsettling waves creates an image that feels almost surreal.

While painting, I thought about how joy and fear can exist at the same time, just like summer and winter can both appear in a single moment. The calm part of the sea makes the crashing waves look even darker, and the waves, in turn, make the sparkles look even brighter. "Beauty and the Beast" is my way of expressing that what we see and what we feel often live side by side, always present, even if we notice only one at first glance.
