Colossus is a meditation on power—on the eternal, quiet battle between the sea and the sky. In this painting, I wanted to explore how both elements, so vast and commanding in their own right, seem to compete for our attention. The waves rise with force, almost as if trying to claim space in the heavens, while the sky responds with its own sweeping presence. As I painted, I was struck by the irony of it all: this struggle between two forces that are, at their core, made of the same thing. Water in motion, water in vapor—different forms, same essence.
