ECHOES OF MNEME is my reflection on the idea that the ocean never forgets. Beneath its surface, it holds the weight of history, of moments lost, of souls that once were.

I’ve always felt that the sea carries memory the way the mind does: quietly, deeply, and without end. In this painting, I tried to capture that sense of stillness and mystery, where light and shadow blend like drifting thoughts. The dark vignette around the edges was my way of showing how memory fades into darkness, yet still surrounds us.

This piece took me months to complete, from stretching and preparing the canvas in the most traditional way, to building each layer with care. I wanted every part of the process to be slow and meaningful—almost like a ritual. As I worked, the face began to emerge, not just as a figure, but as a symbol of what the ocean remembers: stories, grief, beauty, silence. Echoes of Mneme is my way of honoring that quiet voice beneath the surface.
