In my oil painting "Ephemeral," I explore the challenge of capturing the fluidity of water. How can a painter freeze a constantly changing view in time?

I can't even remember how many layers of paint I applied in my quest to capture this movement. Each layer was a fleeting moment, disappearing as soon as the next one was added. It was a never-ending cycle of glazes, each representing a moment that would never be repeated.

I could have kept working on it forever, which is why I chose the title "Ephemeral." Each glaze was a transient moment, and once I embraced that realization, the painting was finally complete.
