Oil Sketch No. 28
This oil sketch is a more abstract, sea-inspired study rather than a realistic depiction of a wave.
What makes this piece different from my usual work is that it was painted entirely in a single session. Instead of building up slow layers, I wanted to work quickly and intuitively to capture the raw energy of the water.
The composition focuses on the movement of the spray and white foam as it breaks. Above the crash, the upper part of the painting represents the deep sea, using dark blues and teals to create contrast and bring out the light filtering through the center.
Painted in oil on Fabriano Tela paper, this original piece focuses on direct movement and texture. The single-session approach keeps the brushwork and paint splashes straightforward and honest, balancing the weight of the dark water with the lightness of the spray. It is a simple look at the sea's motion and a unique, spontaneous moment from my studio practice.
